With the arrival of the Finch West LRT, our community is already growing and changing in new ways, including new development. The owners of Jane Finch Mall recognize the mall’s significance in the community and have created jfm+ to start the process of planning for the future of the Jane Finch Mall site.
At the beginning of August 2021, the jfm+ Community Engagement Team – all of whom have deep roots in the Jane Finch community – began connecting with local residents through one-on-one conversations and small group meet-ups. Their goal is to understand how the Jane Finch Mall property plays a role in the community now, and the hopes of residents for our future.
In October 2021, the team opened up the jfm+ Community Engagement Space, a storefront at Jane Finch Mall (located across from Shoppers Drug Mart) as a dedicated space to plan for the future, and to broaden the reach of their conversations.
After connecting with more than 400 community members, jfm+ is entering its next phase of community consultants to learn even more. On Tuesday, December 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., jfm+ is inviting you and the larger Jane Finch community to participate in its first Virtual Community Event.
At the meeting, the jfm+ team will give an overview of what they’ve heard from local residents to date. Mostly importantly, participants will be invited to share thoughts for the future of the Jane Finch Mall property.
Since 1968, Jane Finch Mall has worked hard to grow with the changes in our neighbourhood and support our community’s needs by investing in a range of improvements, including community events as well as new shops and services. While Jane Finch Mall will evolve, jfm+ is in place to ensure this commitment doesn’t change.
