In the upcoming federal election, the Downsview Advocate is proud to support local NDP candidate Matias de Dovitiis.
A longtime resident of the Downsview Community, Matias has worked, lived and volunteered to better the community for years. Having started and done foundational work for many NGOs, Matias has brought numerous scholarships and bursaries to made-to-be-marginalized youth through organizations such as CONOSER and Teach2Learn, as well as individual scholarships he himself organizes for community youth in Jane and Finch. Matias supports youth from all walks of life, supporting efforts of marginalized youth to bring their creative ideas to light and providing them with opportunities to work and volunteer in the community.
Through his work with local City Councillor Anthony Perruzza, Matias has focused on making city facilities and public spaces more accessible to made-to-be-marginalized people. He has helped bring resources and amenities to seniors in the community, and remains a strong activist for people of all income levels.
As a member of the Humber River-Black Creek Electoral District Association, Matias has advocated for the neurodivergent community, pharmacare, and publically accessibly higher education. As a first generation immigrant from Uruguay, Matias knows the meaning of hard work and dedication. The Downsview Advocate believes he will be a powerful voice for his home riding in Ottawa.
